In response to recent student protests that it claims have been taken over by anti-national elements, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has issued a press release urging the legal community, intellectuals, and responsible people to step in and assist protect the country.
Chairman and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra's message, titled "An Appeal to the Intellectuals of the Country," asserts that innocent youngsters are being deceived and abused and that foreign enemies are working to destabilize India.
Their agitation has been taken over by anti-social and anti-national elements, whose stated goal is to destroy our nation, as has happened in other places recently. According to the statement, "these disruptive forces seem unable to reconcile themselves with India's economic progress, expanding global stature and development."
According to the press release, some politicians with foreign allegiances are cleverly inciting and agitating younger people to promote lawlessness. According to Mishra, "every prudent person recognizes that such individuals have no genuine concern for the peace and prosperity of our Bharat; instead, they are dancing at the tune of enemy countries."
"These individuals will do whatever it takes to seize power or destroy the nation. They don't care about the country's or the pupils' well-being. Their only goal, which they have long pursued, is to instill anarchy, destabilize India, and take control. The statement continues, "They want our nation to be destroyed like Bangladesh and Nepal."
Additionally, Mishra has claimed that over the past ten years, "one unnamed politician" has been getting large sums of money meant to destabilize our nation, traveling abroad regularly, and meeting anti-Indian individuals, including those who support terrorism.
Additionally, Mishra has claimed that "experts in stone pelting have been brought from Jammu and Kashmir and other states into Delhi and other major cities" in order to facilitate attacks on police and other disturbances.

Mishra added that it is the responsibility of the legal profession and other intellectuals to come forth and expose the truth to the public and innocent students.
According to the statement, "it is the duty of the legal profession and of all intellectuals and prudent citizens to step forward and convey the truth to innocent students and the wider public."
Additionally, Mishra emphasized that the "intellectually sound class" has stood up for the defenseless and protected the country from foreign plots and assaults. According to BCI, "lawyers and other professionals awaken public conscience and inspire citizens to resist injustice and the designs of hostile forces when the country faces danger."
The press release lays out certain requirements for educators, professionals, parents, and organizations. "Rather than allowing impressionable students to be drawn into violence or activities that may permanently damage their education, careers, and future prospects, educational institutions should become spaces for informed dialogue and constitutional awareness," Mishra stated.
Mishra has also described the need for parents and guardians to keep an eye on the influences and activities that young people are exposed to in order to prevent them from being taken advantage of by those who want to utilize their enthusiasm and idealism for illicit purposes.
Lastly, Mishra called on lawyers, student leaders, political parties, and law enforcement organizations to work together in a positive way, tell the truth to young people, discourage them from using violence, and use legal means to bring peace back.
Mishra came to the conclusion, "Let unity, respect for the rule of law, and civic responsibility guide our response so that peace and democratic values prevail and let the selfish politicians fail."
